Weekly planning
Into the Wild: A Week of Discovery, Movement and Imagination
This week, our learning journeys across the Space Morning, Space Afternoon, and Sea Morning groups will immerse children in the exciting world of wild animals through hands-on exploration, creative play, and early learning experiences. Children will discover animals from different habitats, learn fascinating facts about mammals and egg-laying animals, and practise the phonics sound O through songs, storytelling, and mark-making activities. In the Space Morning group, children will take part in playful “eggsperiments,” classification games, and role-play inspired by The Tiger Who Came to Tea, while the Space Afternoon group will explore continents, endangered animals, and number ordering through animal-themed crafts such as giraffe making and elephant activities. Meanwhile, the Sea Morning group will focus on sensory and movement-based learning, using messy trays, watercolour animal art, puppets, and imaginative dice games that encourage children to move, communicate, and explore animal sounds and actions together.
Through these experiences, we aim to support children’s communication and language development, confidence, early phonics and mathematical understanding, creativity, and physical coordination. By combining storytelling, sensory exploration, role play, and collaborative activities, children will deepen their curiosity about the natural world while developing independence, cooperation, and a joyful approach to learning.
