People Who Help Us: Exploring Professions and the Power of “P”!

This week, our theme is “Professions and Community Helpers.” Children will dive into the world of work, discovering the many roles that people play in our communities—from doctors and police officers to firefighters and postal workers. Through engaging stories, imaginative role play, and hands-on activities, they’ll learn about the tools and responsibilities involved in different professions, developing a sense of appreciation for those who help keep us safe, healthy, and happy.

Creative tasks will include making police ID badges, building fire engines, and preparing pretend parcels for delivery. Children will explore these roles through group games, music, and arts and crafts, fostering communication, confidence, and collaboration. Phonics sessions will focus on the letter “P” for “police” and “post,” with older children (Astronauts on Duty) also introduced to the concept of the silent “E” in words like “police” and “tape.”
